Local AttractionsWithin a short distance of Amrock Guest House are many local attractions and amenities to be enjoyed by all ages:
Peasholm Park
A stone's throw away from our front door the picturesque Peasholm Park contains a lake where boats may be hired and which is also home to the famous naval sea battle enacted twice per week during the peak season. There are also smaller ponds for remote controlled and toy boats. Or why not just enjoy a quiet stroll amongst the numerous trees, shrubs and plants and view the squirrels, geese ducks and swans. Late at night the occasional fox may also be visible. 2007 saw the re-opening of the 'Pagoda' on the lake island together with the Japanese style water garden. This has been reconstructed with the aid of Lottery funding and will be accessible by footbridge.
Scarborough Sea Life Centre
A popular visitor attraction the Sea Life Centre is a fifteen minutes stroll along the sea front, or a five minute ride on the North Bay miniature railway from Northstead Manor Gardens (adjacent to Peashom Park). The centre houses a miraculous array of wildlife for viewing by the public but also undertakes a considerable amount of protection and rehabilitation work.
If you wish to visit the centre please ask at reception for details of the special offers which are available from time to time.
Beaches
The North Bay beach, with its coveted blue flag award, is minutes walk away from Amrock Guest House. The majority of the beach is dog free from April to September when bathing is also supervised. A designated area is marked for the launch of Jet Ski's.
Further afield there are popular beaches in Scarborough South Bay and to the South at Cayton Bay.
